Emerging professionals from all parts of Queensland attended IPWEAQ facilities in Brisbane, on 23-24 November for our second Public Works Professionals Orientation. 

The two-day intensive provided an insight into the industry including big picture context and resources for competently navigating the sector. 

Delegates attended from local and federal government and the private sector, which enabled broad discussions on session topics. Our thanks to our guest speakers: Glen Beckett, LGAQ, Jacqui Hansen, IPWEA; Patrick O’Brien, McCullough Robertson; Gleb Kolenbet and Stéphane Malhomme from Moreton Bay Regional Council; Jimmy Scott, Queensland Reconstruction Authority; Michael Claydon, Queensland Audit Office; and Rebecca Ryder, IN4 Advisory. Delegates and speakers were also invited to attend both the Art Exhibition and networking breakfast as part of the intensive. 

A special thank you to the Brisbane Airport Corporation team hosted an onsite Tech Tour of Brisbane’s new runway, with delegates appreciating the extent of future planning that forms a critical element of public works.
