TECH TOUR

This year at the CQ Branch Conference, the Tech Tour will take place in two parts: the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre and Washpool Creek Naturalisation.

PPE Required: Long pants, long sleeve shirt, high vis vest, hard hat and closed-in shoes (steel toe boots preferred).

Site 1 - Bundaberg Aquatic Centre

The Bundaberg Aquatic Centre will provide the community with a new, FINA standard, covered, 50m, heated competition pool to support regional and state level events and training camps.

Additional indoor heated pools and multi-purpose rooms will be available for fitness, teaching and therapy programs, creating a facility able to offer a range of comprehensive health and fitness services.

Council has elected to deliver the project in a single stage over approximately three financial years.

Site 2 - Washpool Creek Naturalisation

The Washpool Creek Naturalisation is an exciting and innovative project which will deliver an integrated public open space that balances its technical stormwater drainage function whilst also delivering significant water quality, ecological and environmental benefits.

Between Ford St and Bundaberg Creek, the Washpool Creek corridor is currently comprised of a concrete channel (which is at the end of its serviceable life) and large open grassed areas with sparse mature trees.

The site has been heavily modified and altered from the creek’s natural state due to urbanisation and there are currently limited facilities to attract public use of the area.
