PRESIDENT'S CHARITY - MS QLD

For each conference, we arrange a fundraiser to support the President’s Charity. For the 2019 CQ Branch Conference, there will be both a raffle and barefoot bowls. The barefoot bowls will be on Wednesday night, 22 May at Rockhampton Bowls Club. A donation of $10 (minimum) is required to participate.

The President’s Charity is MS Queensland. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system. It affects the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve and impacts more young people in Australia than any other chronic progressive neurological disease.

The term multiple sclerosis means 'many scars' and refers to the damage caused in the central nervous system. Over 25,600 people in Australia have MS, including 3,700 Queenslanders, and it affects each person differently. On average more than 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS every week.

For the past 60 years, MS Queensland has provided care and support to Queenslanders living with MS, and more recently, other chronic, progressive neurological diseases. As the only Queensland provider with specialised services dedicated to supporting people living with MS, your wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
