Tech Tours 



All Tech Tours take place on Tuesday 11 October from 1pm. Please note that there is limited availability on each tour.


Tech Tour 1: RCPA FRC Pipe Facility

This will be a tour of RCPA’s FRC Pipes manufacturing facility. A unique opportunity to see the process of making FRC Pipes from raw material processing, to mixing, pipe formation, curing, testing, finishing (joints) and fabrication of accessories and unique drainage products. 

Clothing requirements: High vis vests, safety glasses & ear plugs provided by RCPA.



Tech Tour 2: Austek Asphalt Production & Pearl Global Facilities

At the Austek Production Facility, and after a short safety briefing, the conference delegates will receive an overview of the asphalt plant’s capability, reason for purchase and a little of the history of it’s short life to date.

Specifically the delegates will learn and see how the Austek Asphalt Plant effectively utilizes the end of life tyre products that dramatically reduce the sites carbon footprint whilst delivering improved products with many advantageous benefits.

This will involve discussion on how the Pearl Products have effectively been introduced into the asphalt manufacturing processes to deliver an incredible opportunity to the asphalt industry.

At the Pearl Global facility, and after a short safety briefing, conference delegates will get to see the fully functioning process of Pearls unique tyre desorption techniques from start to finish.

A guided walk around the site will encompass the tyre storage area, the preparation of the tyres to a size made ready for the processing of the end of life tyres. All with commentary on the equipment used and technology employed to better understand the EOL tyre preparation processes. (Prior to processing)

Then moving into the enclosed processing factory the delegates will get an up close and personal view of this world first technology with explanations of how the entire tyre is reduced into 4 key products that are utilized in a cradle to grave circular economy.

The products produced are 100% reused with nothing leaving the site as waste!

Clothing requirements: Hard Hat, safety glasses, steel toe protected footwear, high vis vest, long pants/jeans, long sleeved shirt or similar – full arm coverage.


Tech Tour 3: Kangaroo Point Green Bridge

Delegates will have an exclusive behind the scenes visit to the marine logistics yards where large machinery, significant formwork and materials for the new green bridge are delivered, housed and assembled before they are loaded onto barges to be transported along the Brisbane River to be installed.

Delegates will see some of the bridge elements including the pile cap shell assembly for the main bridge pier, working platform assembly for beneath proposed the deck at the main mast, assembly of the bespoke formwork for the bridge piers and explanation of the Pier 4 reinforcement jig where the reinforcement is assembled before transport by barge to the worksite.

Clothing requirements: Closed in shoes, long pants and long sleeve shirts preferable.
